I have genuine fondness for Ranveer: Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma talks to Varun Vazir about her latest film Ladies vs Ricky Bahl which released on December 9. Excerpts:

The new lucky mascot of YRF banner, the sizzling Anushka Sharma will set the silver screen on fire with Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. But it looks like she had to shed a lot of weight for this film, she arguably says, “I always had a very lean and a slim body. People have always seen me in a salwar kameez in which my body was barely visible. This weight loss issue has been stretching things too far. The last article I read spoke about me being anorexic and I take a lot of offence in that. I used to be an athlete in school and have a high metabolic rate so it’s natural for me to be this way”.

She further continues, “I don’t mind people writing about my profession but not about my personal life. My family reads it and I am answerable to them. I am a woman and if something is written in a demeaning manner, it affects me”.

Anushka has developed fondness for Ranveer over the past one year, “We were not familiar during Band Bajaa… and did not understand each other’s working space. This time it was way more comfortable. There is a lot more respect for each other.  Ranveer really inspires me in many ways and he’s so driven as an actor. He is very passionate about what he does. I can’t imagine doing anything else apart from acting. I have genuine fondness for him. We have a very good on-screen chemistry. Chemistry is not created by actors; it is created by script and the characters”, she said.

Anushka who has majorly done YRF films says, “I’ve done a Patiala House too and my next is with Vishal Bharadwaj. But honestly, till Band Bajaa…they were the only ones who showed faith in me, they have backed me so much that I will continue to work with them till I remain an actor”. Anushka who will also been in an YRF film which is directed by the maestro Yash Chopra himself, “I am dying to work with Yash Chopra. I am so fortunate that I am getting to be a heroine in his film”, she said excitedly.

Anushka who is doing Vishal Bharadwaj’s next Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola says, “Vishal (Bharadwaj) is an actor’s delight. I become a child in front of him. He is such a calm person. He invests a lot in his actors and makes you understand things in a beautiful manner”.

The actress has been in the news for a tussle with Katrina Kaif over a makeup artist, “I will never ever reach a stage where I have to be in any kind of tussle with Katrina Kaif. I genuinely respect her lot because she is not from a filmy world and has maintained her strength here. I am also doing a film with her”, she said.

Anushka who has been doing back-to-back films definitely needs a much awaited break, “I would love to visit Ananda in Hrishikesh. I go there alone occasionally and do some meditation to get some peace of mind.” she concludes.
