today i'd like to share the story behind this picture of mine with John Abraham.
I remember i was working with JAM magazine as a feature writer and i had begun to do celebrity interviews and really enjoyed it. one day, i randomly happen to call UTV for John's interview for his movie Aashayein. the PR person spoke to me very rudely and just hung up on me saying, "sorry no interview". i felt really humiliated and felt maybe this happened because my publication wasn't a big brand but still this wasn't a way of treating anybody.
i knew i had to take an action against this and revert back with an answer. so i went back home fuming and thought what could i do?????? i wasn't a fan of him in anyway but i had to do something so i began writing a letter to john abraham as to why should he give me an interview and i wrote a sweet letter and dropped it with his watchman..........

here's the letter i wrote to john
Dear John,
Hi
sir I am Varun Vazir from Mumbai and working as a Feature Writer for JAM
magazine. It’s a youth based national magazine. I would love to interview you
for the same. I recently ran a poll on face book and twitter and fans requested
that they want to see and read your interview. I would love to conduct a video
interview and put up on our website www.jammag.com
and same will be referred for an article in the magazine have a couple of wacky
ways for an interview.
Few reasons why you should give me an interview:
-
You’re an ex-Jaihindiite and so am I. (together
we will and we can) J
-
You started your career as client servicing and
I am an Advertising student.
-
we both are neighbors (two buildings away)
-
You’re an established Actor and I do theatre/TV
ads etc.
-
You have an upcoming movie – Aashayein.
-
You have a Gypsy and I had one.
-
Today is Parsi New Year :D
Sir I feel these reasons are kind of sufficient to convince
you. (I hope).
I won’t take more of your time. I promise. I know your very
humble. please don’t disappoint me. I know it’s a little weird to write to you
like this but then I earn my bread butter from JAM :p.
You can contact me at .................. anytime ;).Hoping for a positive response. Thanks!
All the very best for your films. God bless you!

ok today when i read this mail i feel its really lame.
wanna know whether he replied back to this???
i dropped this letter and was walking towards my gym and suddenly my phone rings and the screen says "private number calling" and i was super excited. i picked up the call and guess what, it was actually john abraham on the other side. he really liked the letter and felt it was sweet of me to do so and immediately agreed for an interview. so he told me to call him the next day for the interview. i called up my cinematographer friend home and i prepared all my questions, my nice clothes, began rehearsing and i was all set to interview him. the next day, i did not receive any call or msg from his side. out of anxiety i called him but he did not pick up and he msgd saying, 'i said i will call u varun'. the whole day passed by but he did not call back.....
his next movie 'jhootha hi sahi' released and still was not able to give me time for an interview....
in next couple of months i was jobless so there was no point in approaching him....but again in few months i began writing for www.mumbaimirror.com and this time i did not want to let go this opportunity. as soon as i came to know he has a movie 'force' releasing, i messaged him and guess what, he called me back? this again continued for few days. he would tell me to come to his house to chill that evening but work would keep him busy. i kept pestering him and his assistant. his assistant would call back and say that john really wants to meet u but its just not being possible for him and he is feeling guilty. And one day when i was in college rehearsing for a play, i get a call from his assistant saying, ''u hv one hr, plz come to mehboob studio, he'd like to meet you..."
i left st. Xavier college and ran for my life. i couldn't believe its actually happening. i had waited for a year for this to happen. i entered mehboob studio, spraying deodorant, folding my sleeves to match his biceps and spiking my hair properly. i see his van parked and his assistant immediately guided me to his van.
the door opens and woahhh he is right in front of me. he greets me sweetly and gives me water to drink as i was panting, without wasting a moment, i began shooting my questions on him...
i came out smiling from his van. it felt like an achievement and realized that whenever u really want something to happen, just stick to it, no matter how long it takes, it will happen for sure (ok i mite sound a lil preachy right now..lol)
