Interview with Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh not good friends with Sonakshi Sinha

Actor Ranveer Singh chats with Varun Vazir about his latest flick Ladies vs Ricky Bahl which released on December 9. Excerpts:

The Band Bajaa Baaraat fame Ranveer Singh who made a debut last year, is back with his new release Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and shares how things have changed over the past one year, “The change was almost overnight. The pace of my life sped up. My phone started ringing a lot more, I did not have time for a luxurious shower or a meal, I was sleeping less and spent less time with my close ones but I am really happy because I am thoroughly enjoying what I am doing”, he said.

Does he feel like a star already? “No, I don’t know what it feels to be like a star. Life was easier earlier as I had a lot of free time to relax. If you attach a luxurious pampered lifestyle notion to a star, then I don’t have that. I still work like a dog and am a normal guy who acts for a living”, he said.

Ranveer plays a role of a Con Man in his next, he elaborates saying “Ricky Bahl is a Con Man who is smooth, cunning, and sly. He will rob you and never see you again. He is not a pickpocket or a petty thief, woh bahut bada khiladi hai”.

Ladies vs Ricky Bahl has the same successful combination of Anushka Sharma, Maneesh Sharma and the YRF banner and there is ought to be a lot more expectation to fulfill, “Expectations and non-expectations both help the films. During Band Bajaa Baaraat, Anushka (Sharma) did not have many releases, YRF banner was going through a bad patch, I was a completely new face and the director was new too. Band Bajaa...was an underdog film and people did not expect anything which really helped the film. This time there are more expectations with same team to tell a different story”, Ranveer said.

He shares a better equation with Anushka Sharma in their second film together, “She will always be more experienced and more senior actor. We are very connected as actors. We’ve been linked together in the past because we had an extraordinary chemistry together. She is that good an actor that she makes sure you feel the scene. We are in a profession that has glamour attached to it and these things are inevitable. We used to go out with a lot of common friends and that’s why people linked us together”, he said.

In spite of being just a one film old in film industry, Ranveer has continuously been in the news for his outspoken behavior, “I don’t know any other way to speak than to speak what’s in my heart. I am wired to speak that way. It would bother if I am deliberately politically correct. If I have an opinion, I will express it. I don’t mean malice to anyone. Yes, I am loud at times when I drink too much coffee (Smirks)”.

We lastly ask him about his recent link-up with Sonakshi Sinha, “I am doing a film with her next called Lootera and honestly too much is been written about us which is not even existing. I’ve hardly interacted with her on four professional occasions. We are friends but not good friends”. He signs off.
